Ah, Life in the Northeast....

Another fun-filled day in January..  look outside, yep, snow is falling sideways.  Love it.
Time to post some gentler items to look at:

Perhaps a snow tiger?

My favorite stick-legged dogs (no, not mine)

Maybe this? (these??)  They were yummy.

My final suggestion (and yes, it is one of mine).

Have You Seen Buffalo?

Today, someone I have known for years and have respected for that long also, was disconcerted that I failed to notice his new buffalo head.  It was mounted on the wall right next to the first one.
Well, he hasn't seen my "Buffalo" yet. Here it is. You beat him to it.

Author! Author!

Yesterday I received some really good news- the other half of the ArtGypsies, Deb Curtin,
has finally become publicly recognized.
Let's hear it for Deb, who has won a Book Fair Regional award - and will soon be feted in Boston for her work.

Yes, there will be pictures coming from the Omni Hotel - publicity about her writing, etc.
Meanwhile, let the praise begin - Congratulations

And let it continue...

Today, It's Fish...

Yep, today is show and tell, with completed pieces and with one in progress.  Here goes -

This one is finally done - not realistic, but great on a gray day.

This is "The Quarry".  It is similar to earlier pieces, but this one is the most satisfying.  It's on my favorite support, unbleached linen with a clear gesso. A fantastic, tight-woven, springy surface.

This will be a piece suitable for a gentleman's library. (Think "art is an oil painting of a horse") Yes, that kind of woody, dark, comfy space.  You may have seen it before, but it will continue to morph.

Art....and Chocolate

I spent a few minutes chatting with a young woman (employed at the Currier) before checking out the other day -

Seems that she, too, is an artist.  Employed locally. Paints on chocolate. Who could ask for more?

And the Muse Drives Me On..

The up side to having this cold weather and asthma is that a lot of painting is being done.  I was thinking, a couple of weeks ago, of a drive thru Portsmouth and of the back yard facing a tiny side street. The residents had covered their arbor vitae(s) to protect them from winter damage:

It was sort of a Disney moment, to come around the curve and see these guys.

And, there are a couple of more good pieces in progress:

The working title on this one (an Ebola medical worker) based on a NYT photo is "Modern Saint"

This one is untitled, so far.

Yesterday,

I did a volunteer stint at the Currier, in Manchester.  It was the second Saturday, so there was an open art-making session. These are on the monthly schedule,(but the holidays and Escher have just ended) so it was a pleasant surprise to have so many family groups show up and participate.

I took kids and parents to the modern gallery, to see how five different artists handled their own version of abstraction/cubism/non-realism.  What fun!  57 happy people trekked off to the yellow room to make their own Picassos. A great way to start Saturday.

Work In Progress

Here's a look at work in progress-

Work

It's About Time...

There hasn't been enough of it lately.  I know I 'm not the only one suffering from this condition in the new year, but enough.

Time to show some new art for this new 2015:
