Yep, this is supposed to be an art blog. It is, but you have to hear about what sort of chaos we sometimes work in....
We were supposed to meet at 11:30 in Litchfield Lane today. I arrived first - decided to take a couple of shots of progress made in the murals since last week
.A woman shouted down to me that my car had better be moved before the trash was picked up - otherwise, I would be backing up for at least a block as the truck came thru.
So I find a temporarily empty parking slot and go to find my friend. By that time the police cruisers and K-9 dog were leaving. Back down into the lane. We came in on foot-dragging brushes, paint, a lot of stuff. The trash collectors clatter thru, offering comment. on our work. I move the car back into the lane to unload my paints. Screaming and a mad dash after the truck - they have collected paints, brushes, all supplies, as well as a SLR camera and handbag. Have you ever leaned in and dug around?? I don't EVER want to repeat this.
When the horror ends, we wave a cheerful goodby, not realizing that my bag of 35+ assorted brushes, a 15" screwdriver, and mixing flats were NOT recovered.
We begin painting with the 3 tiny brushed and 2 medium-sized ones.
Ten minutes later a huge black SUV rolls up. Its driver says that he owns the garage we are painting - and had no idea that we were painting it, and had been working for a month. We talked for a while about the garage being renovated and the painted doors removed. He took some pictures to show his wife.
We kept on painting. Wish us luck!.
