Yesterday

A good day for a jaunt - off to Portsmouth.  Stopped at brie's Boutique.  A great place, collected by a woman with a good eye: Brie.  Out of the way trip until the bridge is opened, but worth the trip. Great deals!

Went downtown - try Fat Belly's, and go upstairs to eat or enjoy a drink, on the iced bar. Interesting! A place with ambience, good food and prices, and some nice folks in the bar area.
Found one of those red buckets and a bell, too.

Ended the day's trek at Popovers. It always looks crowded and not worth the wait. I have one word for that - Wait!  and get the sundae.

Where Have I Been?

Not much from me in the way of posts this past month - art exhaustion, seasonal exhaustion, etc.

However, there are other things of interest for readers:  for those of you in NH, go over to the Currier Art Museum  Enjoy a show that may not appear anywhere else - Escher.  Yes, a private collection of this amazing work, 180 pieces in all. See a chronological display of work that stretches over three rooms. (Couches, manipulatives, a video, magnifying glasses are all provided on site.) If you are not a member, check Currier's website for hours of free admission - and enjoy Escher for a $5 fee.

Go to Portsmouth - enjoy holiday lights, Popovers' bakery, a stroll.

Contribute to the bellringers with a red kettle.  Share the happy!

Some Art Has a New Home

Look up Brie's Boutique on Facebook - She will be featuring some of my pieces.
Stop by her place - most interesting.  It's small, funky, and has great buys. (You'll like her, too.)

Nope, these very real guys are already taken. Love the holiday spirit.

YOU KNOW YOU'LL NEED IT!

The interminable holiday season is approaching - what better way to enjoy Tday's spirit than by wearing a proper tee?

Pick one up at Arts in Action (Londonderry) this weekend (Sat OR Sun) I'll be in the Shady Hill Greenhouse. The tees are with me. They go home with you for $18.

Where Is Shady Hill Greenhouse???

It is at 1 Adams Rd, not far from Mack's Apples (230 Mammoth Rd)  It's set back - but on the corner of Adams and Mammoth.

Deb made a sign - look for a heavily-weighted sandwich-style sign AND a large parking area.

See you.

The Pumpkin Festival

In spite of yesterday's gloomy looks and unbreathable air, off we went to Keene yesterday.

Streets were busy, and soon, very crowded. Pumpkins everywhere!

We walked, we looked at costumes, noted the tree-huggers.

A shame  Let's hope for better next year.

Really, We Need You

Yesterday, a lecture. Today, no. Just keep in mind, when you're touring an artist's work - we need you.

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Support Your Local Artists!

Today you are receiving a short lecture:

Support the people who are brave enough to pay for a chance to exhibit their best work!  We are working for free, until one of you makes a purchase.
Musicians work for free at open mics for years, I know that.  Are they asked to pay for that chance? NO. Are musicians and performers constantly  asked to give away the songs, stories, plays that they have written?  It may sound like sour grapes, but artists are.
Do people think that singers and performers and writers should be grateful that  their work is publicly shown without any recompense?  Artists are expected to do so.
Being an artist is my choice, but I don't expect the plumber (a talent in his/her own right) to work without reward. My paper carrier gets a holiday tip. The lawn crew gets paid.  Consider artists another hard-working professional group - PLEASE!

I'm just saying.
