We'll Be in Londonderry Soon - At the "Art In Action Show & Demos"

Fall is here, people.  Look out the window - it's not pretty in the am.  Time to look for other sources to warm you up, to add some color, to make you feel good.
Take a drive to Londonderry on November 9th and/or 10th to enjoy yourself. You'll not only have a chance to jump start seasonal shopping, but you'll have the opportunity to meet artists (some of them have worked with the Gypsies) and see them actually create their paintings during the show.

So, come and see the Gypsies and many others at Mack's Apples & Shady Hill Nursery in Londonderry, NH on Saturday or Sunday (10 AM to 4 PM) on Nov 9 or Nov 10. The orchard, greenhouse, customer area, etc are located at  230 Mammoth Rd, Londonderry, NH 03053   (603) 434-7619   www.macksapples.com

I'll tell you more soon about the artists joining us for the Art in Action Show & Demos in the Traveling Panel Project who have worked on in the Manchester-Hooksett area during 2010 to 2013.

More Backstory

Late this summer, we partnered up with some FoA members, some Manchester activists, and "arted" locally. Take a look at the results ....

It's Come and Gone - But Keep Checking for Our Next Mevent

A mevent is a small event. That's how we started yesterday. Anime fans know we exist, high school students know that we're around. Local art students know about us. Look at some shots from Saturday.
The Gypsies have begun.

PS Do you all know where the doing good meters are now?

Living Easel - Volunteers Wanted on Saturday

Look for artsy types on Elm Street - We'll be standing near the FOA donation meters. We're bringing bits of color to your lunch surroundings.
Every 10 minutes or so, a different person will be close to the painted meter in front of: Cafe de la Reine, the Republic, City Hall Elm St.mall, Portsmouth Pizza, Citizen's Bank.

Bring some change for the meters, get a $5 Reine check for helping the Gypsies, and join us about 1:15 for the photo op. (Get a ticket from one of our volunteers.)

See you on Saturday....and at upcoming happenings.

Enough about me

Time for Deb to step up to the spotlight. Her illustration style is so beautiful - it's calm, and centered, and shows such discipline in coloration. Beautiful.......
She's used art as an activist: to beautify a neighborhood; to raise consciousness about chronic illness, to add to a gray NH morning....

The Backstory Begins

Getting art and the public's eyeballs in the same spot isn't easy.  On a great New England day, sunshine, breezes - you don't hear the rallying call "Let's go to the museum!"
You don't throw some munchies, a suit and towel into the car, grab friends, and look at paintings. Save that crap for another time, or preferably, for someone (anyone, maybe your grandma) to do.

NOT SO FAST! You've just jumped into the loser line. Art is everywhere now, like it, admit it, or not. Here are some places that the Gypsies have painted or shown their art in the past two years.

a tribute to art showings
we have done this in a park
we have done this in the dark (restaurant)
we have done art in an alley
we have shown it in a gallery
we have done it in a bank
we have done this adjacent to a (brewer's) tank
we have shown in a pop-up
we have shown in a senior health center (no, it doesn't rhyme)
we have put art on the street
I put art on a wooden seat.

What won't we do for art?  Not much

LOOK FOR US!

You'll be seeing our symbol around town  -- see it here very soon

Peg & Deb

It's Been Too Long

I've been 'way too busy with the day job, with Board meetings, and with trying to find new places for gypsy art. Deb's been doing the same, plus leaving NH for a bit.
I hoped that NHIA students could join us on the 19th---but, they have events booked for the day. St A's has Homecoming, so they're booked.  You may be looking at some elder artists at the rate that we're progressing.

Meanwhile, take a look at some more traveling eye candy. (I owe a credit to Marc for his ponies.)
